Dubai: CPI inflation slows in August

  • Headline CPI inflation in Dubai slowed to 2.4% y/y in August, down from 2.9% the previous month, marking the first deceleration in annual price growth in four months.
  • Housing & utilities, the largest component of the CPI basket, saw inflation slow to 6.1% in August, the slowest pace in 20 months, contributing to the moderation of the headline figure.
  • Transport costs experienced deflation of 3.5% y/y in August, influenced primarily by lower petrol prices, which are expected to continue moderating the headline rate.
